Easier entry in areas with no items
The outline view of GTDNext, that is so great, is all about simply pressing Enter and typing away.
But if I filter into an Area that are currently not containing any items, I cannot add a task directly, but have to shift to another view first and add at least one item, open the right pane and select the area from the dropdown. This is slow.
Ideally I could simply select an area, press Enter and start rolling.

Hierarchical Areas
I use areas to categorize my actions and projects by area of responsibility e.g. Health, Work, Social, Recreational...
A better presentation of my areas, however, would be hierarchical. I have social commitments to my family and friends, I might want to see them separately or together. Same goes regarding work commitments relating to my clients vs my accountant; my different hobbies etc.
It would be convenient to:
- be able to organize my areas in a hierarchical way.
- associate actions/projects to any (one or more) area in the hierarchy (different scopes). A drag and drop of multiple actions/project to…9 votesAdminSergio (co-founder, GTD Next) respondedInteresting. We have thought about making Tags Hierarchical, but had not thought about it for Areas. We will think about it.
One thing I don’t think I agree with is having “Bills” be an Area as Jolygod gives as an example. That seems more like tag to me.
Areas are intended to be Areas of Focus in your life. So examples would be Work, Family, Side Business, Personal, Spiritual, etc.

Could we have a drop down for “Priority” (High, Med, Low, New) and “Time Needed” (15, 30, 60 min, 2 hours, etc.) next to Area and Focus?
Could we have a drop down for “Priority” (High, Med, Low, Create New) and “Time Needed” (15, 30, 60 min, 2 hours, etc.) next to Area and Focus? And also columns to display and “sort by” these criteria? And ability to filter by these too.

Report Writer or Print Function
At times we need to have a written report of our projects and the tasks to complete the project. Especially good when you are meeting with your project team.
9 votesAdminSergio (co-founder, GTD Next) respondedIt will probably be a while before we get around to a print capability. In the mean time, you can use the export function to copy and paste info into email or wherever to create your own report. Hope that helps!

Add People to a task or project
Most of the time my tasks have other people associated to them.
Sadly, there is no feature to support this other than using tags for people's names.
I would like for a feature to associate people to a task in a way I could then click their name to write an e-mail to them asking a question or saying the task is complete, etc.
Note that these people are not necessarily collaborators that are working on the same task and also use GTDNext. They can be person who asked for you to perform the task in the first place.

Manual sorting (esp by hotkey) needed for all lists (Inbox, Scheduling, Waiting, Someday)
Hello
Please can we make the hotkeys that work for manual sort (Control+Shift+[up/down or arrow key]) work on ALL lists.
Background
Right now manual sorting (both by dragging by mouse and/or by Control+Shift+arrow key) only appears to be possible in the following views
- Projects & Actions
- Next Actions
- FocusIt would be good to have the same functionality work in all the action status "Lists":
- Inbox
- Scheduling
- Waiting
- SomedayIt would be good for all the interface to views to work the same way.
e.g. Tab to indent, selected line marked up in…7 votes -

Option to "Display completed" in the "Next" view
When trying GTDNext for a couple of days this lacking feature was what finally made me go back to my old system (Nirvana) and just keep this under watch. There are two reasons to have this feature:
1. I'd like to see what I have accomplished during the day. (Each morning I clear out/collect all completed items from the day before).
2. Sometimes I think that I may have clicked twice by mistake and thereby accidentally marked both the wanted item and the next (scrolling up) item as completed. As I don't remember the list completely and don't have a…6 votesThe new “Today” vew we introduced in March allows you to see your completed tasks. Take a look!

Add the ability to enter a time of day a task is due as well as duration.
This will make it great when you build a calendar integration so I can better plan out my day. This will also make it better for notifications to arrive on a timely manner when a android app becomes available.

Allow users to assign colors to projects and/or areas
This allows for quicker recognition of items when viewing all projects & actions. (Todoist, ticktick, etc. provide an option like this!)

Grouping tags
It would be a great thing to be able to visually group tags in the top bar, especially if you have a lot of tags

Add a simple query capability
We have a weekly stand-up to report what work we have done over the last week. I forget half of what I have done, so it would be nice to be able to query all tasks done in a given date range.
This is a specific example, but a generic query facility would compliment what seems to be a pretty promising product.5 votes -
Set icon for webpage for "Add to Home Screen"
OK this should be pretty simple, but would make me happy! Obviously you guys haven't been able to put together mobile apps yet, but with your mobile-responsive web design, it doesn't work too bad. However, there's one thing that really doesn't work.
If I add app.gtdnext.com to the Home screen, instead of an icon, it just adds a screen shot of the open app. Which in the case of GTDNext is really ugly! I understand it's easy if not trivial to add some sort of tag with an icon, so IOS uses that for the icon.
This would be a…

Provide Area-specific URLs (deep links)
I'd love to be able to have a URL for each of my Areas that takes me to GTDNext with that Area pre-selected. I could then have a bookmark on my work computer that takes me to GTD Next with my "Work" Area selected and a bookmark on my home computer that takes me to GTDNext with my "Personal" Area selected.

Recurring events notes
I would find it useful if action item instances generated by a recurring action would show, for their notes, the notes of the recurring action that spawned them. I often put information in the notes that is intended to help me perform the task quickly, such as checklists, or links to reference information. Currently, it seems that I have to navigate to the parent item to see these.
Apparently such instances have their own note storage. I can see the value in this for taking notes specific to an instance, but for a recurring item I doubt I would want…
