  1. Due dates on recurring tasks

Recurring tasks should take the due date into account; most likely in the form of an offset from the start date.

  2. Only have one (not two) projects expansion icons. And it should change to show the current open/closed status.

It seems crazy (i.e. inconsistent and a waste of space and less easy to understand) to have two rather than just one icon for expanding and collapsing projects.

Maybe there was a sound technical reason for the way you have done it but... I suggest you either show the open icon (when projects are open) OR you should show the closed icon (when projects are closed) and the mouse-over should change in each case to say what happens why you click it.

  3. Change the mouse-over text of filters to make more explicit

I have been using GTDNext for over a week and I still get confused about what clicking the filters (e.g. "Filter Active Items", "Items with due dates", "Filter Focused items", "Hide complete"), button actually do!

The problem with the word "Filter" is that it can mean filter in or filter out!

Also the mouse over text needs to change depending on whether the button has been greyed out.

    I suggest something like
"Show just Active items" (or "Remove 'just Active items' filter")
"Show just items with Due dates" (or "Remove 'just Due dates' filter")
"Show just focused items" (or "Remove…

  5. Fully featured keyboard shortcuts

A full set of keyboard shortcuts to use the web app quickly. The goal would be that using the keyboard alone, someone can work very quickly and have no need for the mouse.

    Details:

    1) Text manipulation (moving, copy, deleting, batch selecting, etc)
    2) Field entry (adding tags, setting status, operations work with batch selection, etc)
    3) Navigation (switch to Inbox view, Action view, Waiting view, etc)

  6. Allow importation

I'd like to use GTDNext, but I already have GTD up and running in another webapp (workflowy, in my case). The thought of retyping all of my items into GTDNext is keeping me from making the transition.

Allowing us to import plain text or csv lists to create a whole batch of items would be really helpful. I imagine that I'm not alone in wanting to transition from some other program. I'd guess too that most programs have some kind of plain text or csv output that could be used in this.

We have recently added the ability to import from NirvanaHQ via the CSV files they create for exporting. If that get’s much use we may consider adding more vendors or a generic import.

  7. Google Calendar integration

Any action or project with a start date should be portable to Google Calendar. By the way, it would be great to add start and end dates and times to tasks.

  8. Please make a Windows Phone app

It would be very useful to also create a Windows Phone app. I know we are considered the third wheel of the mobile industry, but it would attract more users to your platform.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

  9. Add People to a task or project

Most of the time my tasks have other people associated to them.

Sadly, there is no feature to support this other than using tags for people's names.

I would like for a feature to associate people to a task in a way I could then click their name to write an e-mail to them asking a question or saying the task is complete, etc.

Note that these people are not necessarily collaborators that are working on the same task and also use GTDNext. They can be person who asked for you to perform the task in the first place.

  10. Higher order GTD (goals, horizons of focus, etc.)

So, I think your app currently has a lot going for it. But one of the things that I think would be worth thinking about is integrating the "Horizons of focus" aspect of GTD somehow. This is "higher order GTD" if you will.

This is what is referred to as the 30,000 to 50,000 feet level. Your app mostly goes up to the 20,000 levels (Actions, Projects, Areas of Responsibility).

So, it would be good if there some kind of an area where we can have place to enter notes on our Horizons of Focus:

    50,000: Big picture view of…

  11. Team or Multi-User Support

This works great for myself, but I have 3 direct reports that I'd love to assign projects / tasks to. Especially when a task is in waiting mode.

  12. Create an "Active Projects" list view

IMHO, I am unable to focus on and process my most important tasks/projects - my Active ones.

I can process my Inbox, my Scheduled, my Waiting, and My Someday tasks/projects by clicking on the respective list title in the navigation column. For the life of me, I can't understand why the one I would look at virtually every morning is not available - my Active ones.

Instead, I have to go to the broader Projects and Actions and sift through everything - even the stuff that right now doesn't matter. Yes, I can manually sort, but why do that if…

Thanks for the suggestion. In some ways the Next Action list is really what you want. It contains all of the next actions available for you to do right now. It’s where I go first thing when I want to start doing actual work.

Since this list contains all actions available for you to do right now, I’m not sure I completely understand the need for a list with all action on it. This is what the Projects and Actions view is for.

To make it easier to view just active actions, we did add an “active” filter to the P&A view. So this will filter out any scheduled, waiting or someday actions from the view. If the next action view isn’t exactly what you are looking for hopefully this will help.

  13. Under Projects & Actions in the left hand column, show nested projects in 'tree' format.

I like to use sub- projects. As it is, I find if difficult to sort Inbox items into my various subprojects. It would be easier if the Projects & Actions section on the left hand panel showed the hierarchy of projects.

  14. Allow selection of multiple items for quicker tagging and sorting

This would be especially useful for context tagging. A lot of my items belong to the Office context. When I'm sorting things from my Inbox, I love to be able to select all of the items that belong in the Office context and tag them all at once.

  15. Allow tagging, etc. in when typing in the New Item box

One thing I really liked about my previous GTD app (Doit.im) was the great ability to add characteristics to new items while entering them, using only very simple keystrokes.

A new item might be entered as "Fix faucet @Home #Bathroom remodel ^Next". So the area, the context and the project can be set (if you choose) very quickly without mouse clicks or tabbing through different fields.

At times we need to have a written report of our projects and the tasks to complete the project. Especially good when you are meeting with your project team.

It will probably be a while before we get around to a print capability. In the mean time, you can use the export function to copy and paste info into email or wherever to create your own report. Hope that helps!

  18. Could we have a drop down for “Priority” (High, Med, Low, New) and “Time Needed” (15, 30, 60 min, 2 hours, etc.) next to Area and Focus?

Could we have a drop down for “Priority” (High, Med, Low, Create New) and “Time Needed” (15, 30, 60 min, 2 hours, etc.) next to Area and Focus? And also columns to display and “sort by” these criteria? And ability to filter by these too.

  20. Add email body as note and add mailed attachments in the task

When sending an email to the GTD Next app the mail body should become the task note and any attachments should be added to the task.

Today, we introduced formatted text in emails forwarded to GTDNext. So all emails sent to GTDNext will retain the formatting that you see in your email client.

Automatically uploading attachments from emails is still coming some day.
