  1. Add a daily "Email My List" option, a la Nirvana. Great for printing!

Yes, some of still PRINT, but most To-Do apps have meager printing capabilities, including GTDnext and Nirvana. HOWEVER...

Nirvana has a GREAT "email my list to me" feature that largely overcomes its in-app printing shortcomings. You can choose to receive your nicely formatted list on any day(s) of your choosing. For me, it's a daily reminder to process my list, print it out for my shirt pocket, and then archive the email for reference.

James, 'Export All' is a partial workaround for those of us who want our info in print. Please add "Email My List" as a preference setting.…

  2. Recurring events notes

I would find it useful if action item instances generated by a recurring action would show, for their notes, the notes of the recurring action that spawned them. I often put information in the notes that is intended to help me perform the task quickly, such as checklists, or links to reference information. Currently, it seems that I have to navigate to the parent item to see these.

Apparently such instances have their own note storage. I can see the value in this for taking notes specific to an instance, but for a recurring item I doubt I would want…

  3. Automatically move repeating instances to Today's tasks when the day comes

Repeating tasks (daily, weekly...) are showing into next action when their scheduled day comes. Shouldn't they show directly in "Today", especially if those are scheduled daily? If it's to avoid clutter, maybe show them with a different style or in a distinct part of the "Today" list?

  4. Set icon for webpage for "Add to Home Screen"

OK this should be pretty simple, but would make me happy! Obviously you guys haven't been able to put together mobile apps yet, but with your mobile-responsive web design, it doesn't work too bad. However, there's one thing that really doesn't work.

If I add app.gtdnext.com to the Home screen, instead of an icon, it just adds a screen shot of the open app. Which in the case of GTDNext is really ugly! I understand it's easy if not trivial to add some sort of tag with an icon, so IOS uses that for the icon.

    This would be a…

  5. Tie GTD to a calendar system so you can see your day and week and month

Google Calendar and GQs work together. GTD is superior to GQs but GTD needs a calendar system so that we can see a day, a week a month, etc at a time. We should be able to input items either when we are looking at the calendar or in GTD and have items show up in both places.

  7. add UI element that defaults the Notes area UI to not display the rich text toolbar

The Notes area has a UI toolbar which is set up by default to facilitate turning text into Rich Text Format (bold / italicize / underline / etc). This toolbar takes up a disproportionate amount of space given the amount of time it is used.

I'm wagering most users have short notes which do not utilize RTF elements.

I suggest that the screen real estate on the web interface have a default unchecked box for toggling a "show/hide rich text toolbar".

In the same veing of thought - there could be a "simplify formatting" option which translates the RTF down…

  8. Make new project easy to create

To create a new project in a new area you have to:

    • create new area
    • create an action
    • assign area to action
    • go to ALL areas
    • create new action under that action
    • press tab
    • go back to your preferred area

    This is unnecessarily difficult.

  10. Option to "Display completed" in the "Next" view

When trying GTDNext for a couple of days this lacking feature was what finally made me go back to my old system (Nirvana) and just keep this under watch. There are two reasons to have this feature:
    1. I'd like to see what I have accomplished during the day. (Each morning I clear out/collect all completed items from the day before).
    2. Sometimes I think that I may have clicked twice by mistake and thereby accidentally marked both the wanted item and the next (scrolling up) item as completed. As I don't remember the list completely and don't have a…

  11. Manual sorting (esp by hotkey) needed for all lists (Inbox, Scheduling, Waiting, Someday)

    Hello

Please can we make the hotkeys that work for manual sort (Control+Shift+[up/down or arrow key]) work on ALL lists.

    Background
Right now manual sorting (both by dragging by mouse and/or by Control+Shift+arrow key) only appears to be possible in the following views
    - Projects & Actions
    - Next Actions
    - Focus

It would be good to have the same functionality work in all the action status "Lists":
    - Inbox
    - Scheduling
    - Waiting
    - Someday

It would be good for all the interface to views to work the same way.
e.g. Tab to indent, selected line marked up in…

  14. Provide Area-specific URLs (deep links)

I'd love to be able to have a URL for each of my Areas that takes me to GTDNext with that Area pre-selected. I could then have a bookmark on my work computer that takes me to GTD Next with my "Work" Area selected and a bookmark on my home computer that takes me to GTDNext with my "Personal" Area selected.

  15. Allow users to set up Hotkeys for Contexts

    Hello

I propose that users should be allowed to create their own hotkeys for adding/removing Context Tags to tasks.

e.g. Suppose you the user had a Context Tag called say "~Errands", you might like to set up an obscure hotkey like say Shift/Alt/E ("E" for Errands).

As things stand applying Contexts to task is horribly slow and as a result in my experience for many tasks, may not happen in practice. However for regular users this feature would speed up the adding of Context by a factor of about x10.

Ideally using the hotkey should toggle the Tag on/off, so…

  16. Make tags clickable buttons in the task edit pane

When editing a task I'd like to have my tags as clickable buttons in the tag edit area, instead of having to type in my tags. Typing in the tags distrupts the flow when working with many tasks at the same time (I often need to tag several tasks at the same time). If a user has too many tags to display in the pane then perhaps display the most used tags? Typing a tag should of course still be an option.

This would go hand in hand with the task input syntax: http://gtdnext.uservoice.com/forums/246700-general/suggestions/6477132-allow-tagging-etc-in-when-typing-in-the-new-item

  17. Full backup

We need a full offline backup for our data in some structurized form. Json, XML, etc.

But I'm thinking about everything (descriptions, links, attachments, statuses, types, etc...) not just simple text tree, like we have now.
